Adobe
Illustrator hints
Introduction
Adobe
Illustrator is a drafting/art application that is useful for
creating posters or figures. GGCS Technical Support
recommends using Illustrator to create poster documents to
be sent from a Macintosh to the HP 755 CM Large-Format
plotter.
This document does not replace the online and hard-copy
documentation sent with Illustrator. It contains a few hints
that may be useful for creating Illustrator documents.

Importing
Graphics
Illustrator
now supports more graphics file formats. It also supports
the Macintosh Drag-and-Drop technology. If you have file
types not supported by Illustrator, use Adobe Photoshop or
Canvas to convert the file to a type supported by
Illustrator.
Select Open from the File menu of Illustrator.
Select the document to be imported. If you select a document
that Illustrator cannot translate, you can try to convert it
in Corel Draw or Adobe Photoshop into a file type recognized
by Illustrator.
An imported graphic can be moved or resized in Illustrator,
but not edited. You can overlay Illustrator objects on top
of the graphic, for example, to label items within a scanned
photo.
For further Illustrator tips, see the online documentation
or the Adobe Illustrator books on the shelves in the GGCS
Computer Lab.
