 Choosing
a Printer on a Macintosh
Opening
the Prit Queue
You
can monitor the documents that you have sent to the printer
by moving to the Macintosh desktop. Double-click the printer
icon that has a bold outline around it to open the Print
Monitor window of the active printer.

The Print Monitor window has four buttons: Stop Print Queue,
Start Print Queue, Set a Time for a Print Job (clock), and
Delete Selected Print Job (trash can). The top box in the
window shows the print job currently being processed and
printed by the printer. The bottom box shows any print jobs
waiting in the print queue.

Canceling
a Print Job
1)
Open the Print Monitor window of the active printer.
2) Click on the print job to be cancelled by clicking on its
title in the Print Monitor window.
3) Click on the Trash Can icon in the Print Monitor window
to delete the print job from the print queue.
Stopping
the Print Queue
Most
word processor files or simple graphics files will print
very quickly. If a long document is sent to the printer, it
may be possible to cancel it before it is finished printing.
However, numerous pages will be printed before the printer
stops and this can be expensive.
To avoid sending jobs to the printer by accident, the print
queue can be stopped. When the queue is stopped, all jobs
will be held in the queue until it is restarted again. This
way any mistakes can be removed from the queue before
sending them on to the printer.
1) Single-click the active printer icon on the Macintosh
desktop.
2) Select Stop
Print Queue
from the Printing
menu.
3) Send documents to the print queue by using the
Print
command in the File
menus of most programs.
4) Restart the print queue by selecting Start
Print Queue
from the Printing
menu in the Macintosh desktop.
