Choosing
a Printer on a Macintosh
There
are two methods to choose a printer from a Macintoch
computer. The Desktop Method is best when working in the
Macintosh desktop, while the Chooser Method is best when
working in a program.

(only for HP LaserJet 5M)
1)
Single-click on the icon for the GGCS LaserJet 5M
printer.

2) Select the item Set
Default Printer
from the Printing
menu so that there is a check next to it. Do not use the
keyboard shortcut (z -L) because it will log you out
of your GGCS account session.
Chooser
Method (all Printers)
1)
While in the program used to create the document to be
printed, select the Chooser
from the Apple
menu .

2) Select the an icon in the upper left box of the
Chooser
window. If printing to the HP LaserJet 5M Black & White
printer, select the GGCS
LaserJet 5M
icon. Select the GGCS
Stylus
icon to print to the Epson color ink jet printer. Select the
HP
Plotter
icon to print to the poster plotter, Gaupel.
3) Select, GeologyBld in the lower left box (should be the
default selection).
4) Select the the appropriate printer (GGCS
LaserJet 5M(&0.05/page),
GGCS
Stylus ($0.75/page),
Graupel,
or another printer or slide printer) item as the PostScript
Printer in the right box of the Chooser window.
5) Close the Chooser
window by clicking the square in the upper left corner of
the Chooser
window. You will be told to check the Page
Setup in
your programs if you have changed the default printer. Some
printers use different margins, so you may want to preview
your documents before printing them.
Note: There is no need to click the Setup
button in the Chooser
window. Once the printer is selected, it is the default
printer seen in the Print
window.
