Scanning
from the Apple Color OneScanner (Mac
Only)
Procedure
You
must be using the Macintosh computer that is connected to
the Polaroid SprintScan 35 slide scanner. This machine can
scan slides or film negatives in either Black & White or
Color. Open the application Adobe Photoshop by selecting it
from the Microsoft Office Menu
in the upper left corner of the screen.
Once Photoshop is open, click on the File
menu, point to the Import
submenu and select SprintScan
35. This
opens a group of windows containing the controls for the
scanner and a preview window for your scanned image.

The first window contains the controls for the SprintScan 35
scanner. You can select the type of slide or negative fim
that you are scanning, whether the media is Color or
Grayscale (Black & White), and whether the image is in
portrait or landcape orientation.
Output
Since
slides and negatives are small, you will want to scale the
scanned image to the size you will use in your final
product. You can also set the resolution of the output
image. Be aware that higher resolution will result in large
file sizes (Note the Size:
display in the window). See the GGCS Help Desk file,
Scanning Resolution for more information on appropriate scan
resolutions for various destinations (Printers, Posters,
Slides, Internet, etc.).
When the settings are selected, click the
Preview
button and the scanner will show a preview of the image in
the Preview
Window.

If the image needs adjustment, you can experiment with the
tools in the Exposure
Window
and then hit the Preview
button again to see the results. The sliders in the upper
half of the window allow adjustments to the color balance.
The Automatic
Cast
Removal
tries to eliminate over- or underexposure as well as remove
some color imbalances. Like most automatic features, it does
not always produce a satisfactory result, but can be very
helpful when it does work.
